Smith opts for Sussex stay
West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Smith has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract to remain with Sussex for the foreseeable future.
The 25-year-old has signed as a Kolpak player, but has made known his intention to try and qualify as an England player in the future.
Sussex's professional cricket manager, Mark Robinson, told the county's official website: "We are delighted to have Dwayne on board as he has fitted into the dressing room really well over the last couple of weeks.
"Dwayne is the type of cricketer you would pay to come and see as he hits a long ball and bowls well. He is also one of the best fielders in the world.
"I'm sure the Sussex public will have a lot of pleasure watching his exploits in the next couple of years."
Smith has played in ten Test matches and 71 one-day internationals for the West Indies to date, but has struggled to hold down a regular place.
