Players keen on IPL riches

A survey of players by the Federation of International Cricketers' Associations has revealed that a majority would quit international cricket to play in the Indian Premier League.

Fifty-two per cent of respondents said they would consider playing in the IPL only, while 95 per cent felt that a window in the international calendar needed to be implemented for such competitions.

FICA chief executive Tim May said: "The players and FICA feel very strongly that to preserve a healthy balance between franchise cricket and international cricket, that the ICC needs to create a window in its international programming, or risk losing players permanently from the international scene.

"Without such a window, the international product will be weakened and the possibility will then arise of the international product being a declining product in cricket's future landscape.

"That is a situation that we obviously want to avoid."
