Pears suffer Edwards loss
Wednesday Jun 25 2008 11:34
Worcestershire have been deprived of the services of overseas fast bowler Fidel Edwards due to a knee injury.
The 26-year-old West Indies paceman was expected at New Road in mid-July, but has been ruled out after sustaining an injury in the recent series with Australia.
Worcs director of cricket Steve Rhodes said: "Unfortunately the news about Fidel has come as a bit of surprise as we have been in touch with him regularly and all seemed to be going well.
"We have immediately started the search for an alternative overseas player and I hope we will have some news soon."
Edwards was due to take over from Aussie seamer Steve Magoffin, who has taken 21 wickets in six first-class games for the Pears this season.
