Caddick opens fire at ECB

Somerset's veteran fast bowler Andrew Caddick has hit out at the ECB for urging counties to prepare flat pitches for matches against touring sides.

South Africa racked up 455-3 on day one of their tour opener in Taunton, with Caddick taking two of the wickets to fall.

He said afterwards: "I know there is an ECB directive that comes down that says we must produce flat wickets for the touring team and I think that is a load of rubbish.

"If these guys want to come here and prepare for Test cricket they should be playing on bowler-friendly wickets.

"As far as I am concerned, we should be working them over hard. I can assure you if we were in South Africa they would be green, seaming wickets and the English batters wouldn't get a run.

"I don't see why that isn't happening here. It dumbfounds me that the ECB wants that.

"South Africa are a damn good side and you have to get on top of them, not only in the Tests, but also in the tour games."
